He’s been at it again. Not that he ever stops. The Retired Husband (TRH – seriously, do you think I should pick another moniker? I’m kinda over this one…) has excelled even himself.
He has a new toy. A scroll saw. This wondrous machine has enabled him to take his creativity to a whole new level. Mini things. Like this wooden ribbon on top of our coffee container. I needed him to make a holder for the scoop – that’s the roundish thing on the left side. This is what he made. Isn’t that just gorgeous?! I do have bragging rights – ‘cos he’s my other half.
There are other mini things too. Like this key ring. Other designs are in the pipeline. This one is mine as I have been given the all important task of testing its durability. So far it’s holding up well.
Today he made this mini reindeer. Isn’t that the cutest thing? It is now my turn to add the finishing touches. You know, things like eyes, nose, fur… he will be in mass production for Christmas. Assorted designs of reindeer as Santa needs lots of them.
In between making bedroom furniture and renovating the old carport he had time to do a few other odd jobs.
Son #2 needed a couple of underbed storage boxes so he whipped them up out of scrap wood.
The neighbour’s kid (weelll – truth be told he’s not a kid anymore) has just renovated his kitchen. A cutting board for the BBQ was needed. He had a left over cut out from the kitchen benchtop and was loath to discard it. Why would you? It was a big piece of laminated bench. So TRH whipped one up. Now TRH’s brother, who is a builder was so impressed with his big brother’s work, he is collecting those cut offs for him.
Who ever said being retired is boring?!
