“I can’t even hear what I’m thinking most of the time,” he said, his brow wrinkling. “My brain’s noisy.”   Jodi Lynn Anderson

It’s  Australia Day here. There is so much loud chatter about what it is, what it should be and what it isn’t that I decided to dedicate the day to Stillness instead. On Monday I will post about the chatters. Not now.

Now it is time to be still.

Let’s start with this –

Aaaah – so much better!

If you want to know where your heart is,  look to where your mind goes when it wanders.

“When you approach something to photograph it, first be still with yourself until the object of your attention affirms your presence. Then don’t leave until you have captured its essence.”

“Being still does not mean don’t move. It means move in peace.”
 E’yen A. Gardner

There is a presence, a silence, a stillness which is here by itself. There is no doer of it, no creator of this stillness. It is simply here in you, with you. It is the fragrance of your own self. There is nothing to do about this, it is naturally present. This fragrance of peace, this spaciousness, it is the fragrance of your own being. ~ Mooji

  1. “If you want to know where your heart is, look to where your mind goes when it wanders.” Ooo! LOVE this quote! Now I’m going to have to start paying attention! Might be worth a second post down the road somewhere. Thanks for noting that. I’ve put it in my quote book now.

  2. Love all the wisdom here… right now my favorite is: “If you want to know where your heart is, look to where your mind goes when it wanders.” That would be a very interesting exercise.

I must say, in the stillness/silence, resides the magnified hisssssss inside ears, ever present, and ever distracting.

    Great post here.

  3. “Seek out a tree and let it teach you stillness.”
That’s the quote that speaks the loudest to me… it’s calming just to visualise a tree. Trees are so much more than most people realise…
