Got a few bits and bobs to share with you today.
You may remember a while back I was repairing hand knitted woollen socks, lamenting that we no longer had anyone who knitted them for us. Well, this week we got a parcel from Finland with these two beautiful hand knitted woolly socks 😀 Thank you Eeva-Liisa ♥ Our feet are now toasty warm.
You may also recall that I have been learning the fine art of pyrography. In order to have a good base on which to work, I needed a plinth. So TRH (The Retired Husband ) made me one out of some of that mountain of scrap timber he has.
And yes, that is a celtic knot I’m working on to further develop the art of shading. And drawing lines that flow cleanly and are not full of black blobs. Not doing so well on that front! That’s why I’m not showing you a close up look !

This week, yesterday in fact, I came across a video on my Facebook page that had all these fabulous recipes for making healthy vegetable snacks in the oven. I was inspired to try a couple. So I made cauliflower hashbrowns and zucchini chips.

And here they are – newly baked. The cauliflower hashbrowns were a big hit. The zucchini chips tasted good but I need to work on them a bit more. Some got burnt to a crisp, some were fine, others were under done. I cut them by hand so the thickness varied too much. I knew I should have used a mandolin even as I was doing it.

They sound delicious to me – you couldn’t send us a few? Maybe a bit far! The pyrography looks great. That Celtic knot looks perfect to me. Just take care not to get confused and apply the pyrographics to the socks and food!
Awww, thanks Opher 🙂 You really should try the cauliflower hash browns. TRh hates the stuff, but he went back for seconds …
Giggle!
I feel like taking a bite of those healthy snacks. You are always up to one fantastic craft or the other. Thanks for sharing the link to the snack recipes.
Do try them Jacquie – they are yummy !
I’ve been wanting to try the zucchini chips. I saw a recipe that used a dehydrator instead of baking them, I might try that,
You’d be guaranteed a better outcome than mine that way, I’m sure. This recipe calls for a drizzle of olive oil and some herbs and spices.
I had to look up the word pyography. I’ve never heard the word applied to the art of woodburning, which is what we’ve always called it here. And yes, it does take a lot of practice. Good luck. I’m looking forward to seeing some of your future creations.
Thanks Barbara. I thought I’d be posh and use the proper technical term for once!
I agree with Opher. That knot is gorgeous!!! You are such a fearless art adventurer! I wish I had your stamina!!!
I dabble in this and that and the other. I found the knot in my calligraphy folder. I’d drafted one as part of series of calligraphy courses I did many years ago. Glad I kept it. I keep thinking of you and your Irish roots when I work on it 🙂
😀
Love seeing your new hobby, it looks brilliant 😉
Thanks – getting there! managing to keep the house and myself fire free 🙂
That’s good 😊
Snap! It always fascinates me when someone replies quickly, knowing they are on line at the other side of the world 🙂 It’s 11.15am here. What time is it there ?
It’s 2.46 am, we went to bed at 9pm because we are going away for a few days later this morning, now I’m wide awake 😳
Ouch! Hope you get to sleep some more and enjoy your time away 🙂
I did and thanks 🌹
Going back to bed now 😴 enjoy your day 😃
Love the socks, they look all warm and toasty.
You are doing so well with the pyrography, I am really impressed :–)
Thank you , Judy 🙂
