Echoes of Thanks, thanks, thanks……

Despite my best endeavours to reach each and everyone of my new followers to say “Thanks – and welcome”  my efforts are sometimes thwarted.

The vagaries of the internet and other phenomena seem to block the way at times. That and time. I am  about ten days behind in catching up to my notifications from WordPress. To those who follow me through other ways – a special thanks to you too!

Please accept this as my personal Thank you  😛

And I hope you enjoy  watching these thank you’s

  1. Oh Raili, I LOVE this post! I was moved to tears watching the second video (and the click-thru that followed). What an incredibly wonderful thing to do with money — as Dolly Levi* says in Hello Dolly, “spread it around”. (Her entire speech leading up to that line is even more impressive, but I don’t recall it and can’t find it online)

I’ve now seen a bit more proof that not ALL capitalists are selfish or evil — giving me hope that America will survive our current administration.

Contrast that with Horace Vandergelder’s line in that musical made from Thornton Wilder’s ‘Matchmaker,’
“I’ve worked hard and I’ve become rich and friendless and mean. In America, that’s about as far as you can go.”
*Dolly’s quote source: “Money is like manure; it’s not worth a thing unless it’s spread around encouraging young things to grow.” ― Thornton Wilder, The Matchmaker

Thank YOU for this post, Raili.

    1. My pleasure Madelyn. That second video was such a treasure to find! I didn’t look at that second click through 😦 I’m going to do that now !

  2. Had to find it – and I DID! Here ’tis
“Yes, we’re all fools and we’re in danger of destroying the world in our folly, but the surest way to keep us out of harm is to give us the four or five human pleasures that are right in the world… and that takes a little bit of money.

The difference between a little bit of money and no money at all is enormous, and can shatter the world!

And the difference between a little money and an enormous amount of money is very slight, and that, too can shatter the world.

It’s all in how you use it.

As my late husband, Ephraim Levi, used to say, ‘Money… pardon the expression… is like manure. It’s not worth a thing unless it’s spread around encouraging young things to grow!”

      1. It is one of my favorite monologues from all the shows I ever did. Had I played Dolly it would have been more firmly embedded in my mind – but I did hear it every 3rd nite for a summer of rep, so it stuck well enough to be able to find it eventually.

I have all my script from straight plays, but musicals must always be returned, so I couldn’t look it up in my own library. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

  3. How kind of you-I think we all may struggle with missing opportunities to say how we grateful we are to others, you figured it out-please know it is my pleasure to follow your blog. I find it inspiring and motivating.
