Soul Gifts – Telling Tales became an Awards Free blog around May 2016. Prior to that I happily accepted nominations. Being a bit of a rebel (sometimes) I usually bent the rules or made up my own. What that meant of course was that I made a whole lot more work for myself. It was time consuming. And finding new blogs to nominate for passing on of the award became difficult as a newbie blogger.
I was also curious and a bit bamboozled by the polarised opinions about their worth and value. So I investigated the issue. And wrote about it in one of my acceptance posts. It helped to get my head around the whole issue.
Eventually I decided it was time to go Awards Free. However, it left me with a dilemma. What do I do about all those kind hearted bloggers who continue to nominate me for an award? I didn’t want to be rude or seem ungrateful. I am neither. Individual responses partly addressed the problem. But not altogether. I also wanted to pay back.
I have thought about it a lot over the last few months, had some discussions, and took note of what others are doing – or not. I finally found a solution that sits well with me.
Here it is: I have created a static page. It sits on my blog’s Home Page in the top tool bar, right between About Me and Contact Me. You can’t miss it. In it I list all the awards I have received. But most important of all, I have included links to the bloggers who have so generously and graciously nominated Soul Gifts for awards. My hope is that in some small way it will lead those who are visiting and browsing to go on and visit those as well.
It is my thank you to all of you.

Sounds like a great, and balanced solution!
Thank you !
Very good solution!!
Thank you, I’m glad you think so. I appreciate the feedback.
Like you, I’m not thrilled about it, but I simply do not have the time to do all that is expected when an award is passed my way. At times like that I most wish for an assistant, but alas, it is not in the budget (and probably will never be as long as continue to choose to give away my expertise on ADDandSoMuchMORE.)
The two ADD Site awards on my sidebar are simply that – no linking and choosing involved, so I was happy to be able to except those. The Mental Health Bloggers badge is simply to indicate affiliation – although I did take the time to write a post about it with links for anyone else interested in applying for membership as well.
Excellent solution you’ve hit upon. I have also run across slideshows in sidebars with awards – but I like the linked version better. It honors the spirit of the intent of these awards in some small way, without having to somehow find the time to pass it along to other bloggers.

Thanks Madelyn. I agonised over this for a long time. Glad I found something that resonates 🙂
I think this is an excellent solution. The problem with awards is accepting them and fulfilling them takes so much time but not accepting them seems so cold and snobby.
Thanks Bernadette. I think most people come to that same conclusion.
That is brilliant, Raili! Seems like a great answer for everyone!
Glad you think so, Calen. That seems to be the general consensus 🙂
I am certainly with you on this one Raili. I now make my own rules about accepting awards. It’s time consuming like you said and it was getting a little too much for me to address and award or two every other day.
So what are your rules ? I’m always intrigued to learn how other people manage things.
I send out an occasional note just like you did and give a general thanks to everyone. I just can’t deal with answering all the questions consistently and nominating people.
I like the way you handle awards-I have the same thoughts. I do feel grateful to be considered worthy-you have a fine solution. the meditation video-well I listened, then slept deeply as i ever have for an hour!!!
Thank you! A whole hour of deep sleep?! That’s awesome 🙂
This is my honor to recognize you for versatile blogger award. Please read and don’t feel obligated to do anything.
Thanku yashika-

What a good idea to create a page list the awards the blogger that nominated you. I got nominated for many awards but since getting awards and nominating other was not a theme I simply didn’t reply or make any mention of the nominations. But I did send a private E mail to whoever nominate me and thank them……
Acknowledgement in some form I think is called for, I think, out of respect and to express thanks. People find ways that suit them best
All I can do with Award nominations is thank the nominator and explain that my blog is too “single topic” for me to participate in the Awards process. I did consider the special page option, but decided even that it wouldn’t fit.
I don’t know that single topic blogs would be a problem. Yours is certainly entertaining, funny, creative, educational, interesting…. But we each do what feels right and best.
I find this very helpful actually. It gives me a way to solve the same problem that I am facing! Thank you.
I’m happy you found it useful. thank you for letting me know.
