Rotational load shed – it’s about power

rotational load shedding, sun, extreme heat

Rotational load shedding ? Well may you ask what that is! Allow me to enlighten you. Pardon the whinge… hot weather does that to me.

It’s the gobbledegook speak we are being subjected to here when we have power black outs = Deliberate.  Power. Black.  Outs. At peak times. Like in the case of our current wave of extreme heat when 90,000 properties had their power cut last night.  Even our overnight low did not go below 25C.

I am writing this at 8.20pm. Today reached 42C. Currently it is 37C. Another hot night to look forward to.

We are excited to be told that we all get to have a turn at having our power cut off for a period of time to ease the burden of providing electricity to citizens expiring from the heat.  Yay!! Not only do we have our power supply cut, we also get to pay premium price for power we do not have. Double YAY !!  The cost of South Australia’s electricity is THE highest in the country with predictions it will rise to the top for The World.

In their wisdom our fearless leaders outsourced electricity supply to a private company. Furthermore, our fearless leaders closed down a gas generating power plant with no long term sustainable alternative plan. And a power plant has remained closed down even though it could be rebooted. Is that what you do to them to make them operational again? All  this at peak time of power consumption.

How lucky are we ?! Meanwhile, I am slowly melting into a puddle of sweat…….. I hope our power stays on tonight. We have at least two more days of this weather.

Steps for Peace

Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are — Hafsat Abiola

  1. Oh my goodness! You are so funny! 😂 But this is not a funny situation 😒 I had no idea that “The cost of South Australia’s electricity is THE highest in the country with predictions it will rise to the top for The World.” Wow! Well, I hope you get to squeeze in writing at least!

    1. Thank you for your lovely comments 🙂 Disappointingly, we didn’t get to spend the night without power 🙂 Seriously, it is a serious issue and people are getting very angry !

    1. Oh, thank you so much!! Perhaps its the hands on experience of it 🙂 And – I can be politically incorrect and rude to boot. No bosses to answer to or tell me off!
