How big is love?

He was just four years old.

I asked him to tell me what love felt like.

With a very serious look on his face, he thought

long and hard.

Then he waved his hands all around his body

in ever enlarging circles.

It’s SO big my heart doesn’t fit inside me!

Tonight as we had a celebration dinner for this

child who is now 28

embarking on an exciting new venture in his life

I told that story.

Enfolding him in the middle of a family hug

we all expanded our hearts to that size

I asked him to hold that feeling

in his heart forever

and tap into it

whenever he felt the need.

  1. You make beautiful moments happen. I’m sure your son will have many lovely memories of his life with you, to carry with him wherever he goes. xxx
BTW I wrote a story called How Big is Love about three years ago. Maybe I’ll publish it on WP…

    1. Thnak you Jane. TRH has just left to take him in for the morning’s orientation before installation. We join him at 11 – watch him bow to the Queen and sign on for 4 years in HM’s service.
Hey!!! We got a possible access point to Buckingham Palace, Jane, for that world peace project !

      1. I was thinking that if Marc does something that brings him to HRH attention, he would get an invite to a BP Garden Tea Party. As family, we would tag along. And as my sister from another mother, you would have to tag along as well !!

      2. Perfect – and thank you so much for including me! That would save us the bother of having to achieve world peace – I didn’t want to say anything about it, but I haven’t got a lot of time for that sort of thing at the moment, as I’m having a mud-mask and painting my toenails 🙂

  2. This made my eyes sting. In a good way. I know you know what I mean. I am joining in. I am proud of YOU also because he is the man he is today in part because of you. May he be safe, happy, and most of all successful in his dreams and find the fulfillment he deserves knowing those he love are so proud of him for all he has done and all he will do.
