Sleep caught him (*Cento)

milky-way-984050_960_720

Upon the glitter of the silver moon

his soul stretched tight across the skies

and round about were the wistful stars.

                    ***

Sleep caught him and was

drifted sweetly about him

washing

the sorrows out of his mind

into something rich and strange.

                    ***

The warm , guitar note kisses of a night

crisp and spare on the startled air

punched out song

and round about were the wistful stars.

                   ***

Heaven lies about

directed by the company.

                    ***

The moon rains out her beams

heaven is overflowed

and round about were the wistful stars.

                   ***
